How important is the concept of colors in websites?

Colors are important and use of right colors can help getting instant 
reaction from the web user. Study shows that a user only spends few 
seconds on the website whil browsing. The right colors and the design 
of the website can make the user stay longer and get him interested to 
see what the website is offering.

Colors should also depend on the kind of services/ products being 
offered through the website. A corporate website will be expecxted to 
have subtle and professional look while a social netwroking site can 
have vibrant colors deponeding on the niche segment that is being 
targetted through the website.
